From early blocking to final shot
Visual Development and final look for the second act of the Distance series: The Oxidized City. Those shots are part of the fourth sequence of the film and have been concepted with the help of Montreal based sculptor, David Umemoto.
I took inspiration from David's work to come up with the primary shapes of the city; then I added some of my own for secondary and tertiary detailing in order to blend it well with the global art direction.
No AI, kitbash or matte painting was used in the process. Every asset was thoroughly designed and modelled.
Production has been developping thanks to the financial help of the Council for the Arts of Canada and the Conseil des Arts et des lettres du Quebec.
